Laura is a professional actor and singer. Her classical vocal training began aged 13 when she trained with the London College of Music working through grade 1 to diploma level before finally becoming an associate of the London College of Music and receiving her ALCM (TD) to qualify as a vocal coach/singing teacher. Having worked in alternative education for teenagers, key stage 3 and 4, Laura is very passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people to achieve their protentional in the performing arts sector. Laura is a Mental health first Aider, and this informs her practice daily.
Whilst always being passionate about singing Laura is also a trained actor and started her journey with Hull Truck Theatre Company and went onto become a member of The National Youth Theatre of GB, and completed her training in London. Laura received her BA(hons) Acting degree from The Manchester School of Theatre (Man Met Drama School). Upon graduating Laura was cast in the role of Jane Henshaw on Coronation street, toured with The Full Monty Play UK tour lead by Gary Lucy, taking the role of Sharon and has recently played the role of Meg in Little Women.
Laura is vocally trained in classical, light opera, musical theatre and contemporary vocals, and launched Laura Andersson Vocalist in 2019. Regular performances with The Two Pianos which keeps Laura busy as a rock n’ roll singer, performing to full house audiences at Theatres around the UK. Laura features on The Two Pianos album 'Shake It' which is available from Gough and Davys in Hull.
Laura has been a wedding singer since 2012 and has the privilege of regularly performing at weddings in Yorkshire and around the UK.
During lockdown, Laura moved all LA Singing Tuition singing lessons and vocal coaching sessions online and offered an online performance platform for all students, releasing Virtual concerts on YouTube and became the musical theatre teacher at The Pauline Quirke Academy.
Laura supported local theatre, The East Riding Theatre by performing in her first Facebook Live concert, to raise funds as well as being part of a recorded play 'Operation 25' by Laura Turner, and also 'Stanzas in Solidarity’, were she recorded a section of Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis.
Laura has worked as a singing teacher for secondary schools around Hull, in Manchester and London and has developed a vocal therapy programme for the long-term effects of COVID-19 for an NHS charity and is currently studying to be a Vocal Health First Aider.
Most recently Laura has joined the Performing Arts department at Wyke College where she has launched The Wyke Treble Threats a new pop choir and has worked on the musical Sister Act with students and is very happy to be part of such a strong Dance, Drama, Music and Performing Arts team!
